Today would have been Patti's 14th birthday. To those who are viewing this blog for the first time, Patti Marie was my Chihuahua who passed away 5 months ago due to kidney failure. I have such wonderful memories of Patti as we shared our life with each other. Every time I look at her pictures I am reminded of what a beautiful soul she was and how very blessed I was to have her in my life.

Since Patti is not here with us physically, we are celebrating her birthday in other ways. I have taken the pups on a long car ride, made a special meal for them and have donated a ton of stuffed animals/toys for dogs and cats to our local Humane Society in Patti's honor.

I always stock up on dog and cat toys (stuffed animals, etc.) after Christmas when everything goes on clearance for 50% - 90% off. You can get a ton of stuff for a great price. I save these items so I can donate them to our local animal shelters. I also go through all of our dogs stuffed animals at home. I choose stuffed animals that have been gently used and that don't have holes in them to donate to the shelters. I wash them using a detergent that is free of perfumes and dyes (Tide Free and Gentle). It is important to NOT use any detergent or fabric softener that has dyes or perfumes in it because some animals have allergic reactions to it. You would be surprised how much a stuffed animal/toy will lift the spirits of an animal at the shelter. They can snuggle with the toy or play with it. Either way it brings the animal comfort and security.♥

So, even though our beloved Patti is not with us anymore, her memory and her loving spirit will live in our hearts forever. Each year we will celebrate her birthday by giving to those animals that are less fortunate and in need. May they all be as fortunate to find a home as wonderful and loving as the one that Patti had. That is my wish for the animals of the world.....

Happy Birthday (Rescue Day) to our Sweet D'Angelo and Sweet Macy Gray!

It was 7 years ago today that I rescued my beloved Sweet Baby D from the Greenville Humane Society. He is truly the best puppy dog in the whole world and the love of my life! Baby D is 8 years young today! :-)

It was 10 years ago that Alex rescued Macy from a parking lot. She was so neglected that she was moments from death. It took 6 months for him to nurse her back to health. Now, she is the healthiest and spunkiest one of all. By the way, did I mention that she is 14 years young today?! :-)

October 14th is a very special day for us. It was also today (13 years ago) that I got my beloved Patti Marie (Chihuahua). It was love at first sight. She was 8 weeks old and 1/2 pound. Precious beyond words!

Happy 13th Birthday to our sweet, precious Patti Marie! She is the love of mommy's life and always will be. You bring us such love and happiness. I haven't ever met a dog that loves everyone (animals and people) like Patti does. She is truly the most gentle creature (angel) on earth. Happy Patti Day! Mommy and Daddy love you so very much! :-)

Happy Birthday (Rescue Day) Sadie!

Sadie's Story...

It was 4 years ago today that my husband found our sweet girl on the streets. Her body was completely shaven to her skin, blisters and scabs were all over her from the horrible sunburn that she had and she was almost hit by an oncoming car when my husband saved her that glorious morning.

We knew she needed medical attention. The vet said if we would have brought her in just an hour later than we did her organs would have boiled. Yikes! So she got some much needed medical attention and I picked her up on my way home from work. When they brought her out from the back she ran into my arms -- wagging her tail so hard I thought it might fall off. I knew right then -- we were SO keeping her. Now, I just had to convince my husband. We already had three dogs so I didn't know how he would feel about a fourth puppy dog in the mix.

We had to quarantine her for a week from our other dogs. So, we blocked off half the house for what seemed like forever. My husband would sleep with her at night in the guest bedroom. He would rub her for hours until she fell asleep. Precious!

Finally, she could be with the other dogs. Hooray, they all loved each other! As my husband and I were sitting on the couch talking about her future, she sat in front of the ottoman and fell asleep sitting up. Alex took one look at me and said "Oh, we are so keeping her. She is so ours." Yes! Mission accomplished (as I winked at Sadie)!

Now that we were definitely keeping her she had to have a name. We decided on Sadie Samara (which means - Princess Protected by God). That is exactly what she is -- our sweet little precious princess! :-)

Happy Birthday D'Angelo & Macy Gray

Happy Birthday D'Angelo and Macy Gray! My how times flies. I rescued D'Angelo 6 years ago today. He was a year old which makes him 7 years old today. My husband rescued Macy Gray over 8 years ago in October so we created a duel birthday for them both. Macy is believed to be 13 years old. She still looks and acts like a puppy. I can't imagine life without my sweet babies. They are truly the loves of my life. Happy Birthday D'Angelo and Macy Gray! Mommy loves you both soooooo very much! :-)

I can't believe my little girl is 12 years old today. My how time flies when you're having fun! I remember back when I first got her -- she was a 1/2 pound and fit into the palm of my hand. It was love at first sight. She has been my loyal companion through all the highs and lows of my life. Happy 12th Birthday Patti Marie! Mommy loves you soooooooooo very much! :-)

Happy Birthday D'Angelo and Macy Gray!!!!

Happy Birthday or shall I say "Happy Rescue Day" to my beloved fur babies! Five years ago today, I got D'Angelo from the Greenville Humane Society. He is such a precious, funny, loyal and sweet little baby boy. I can't imagine life without him.

Alex rescued Macy on the streets from near death over 9 years ago. Since he can't remember the exact date in October that he got her we have decided to combine their birthday's (ahem, rescue days) to the same day.

They have brought such happiness and love into our lives. I have always felt that they rescued us instead of the other way around. Life would be so dull and empty without them. Today has been a day of fun and frolic. We had a great time at the beautiful park downtown. This afternoon mommy will make some doggie (hypoallergenic) birthday cake and then all the pups will open presents. Yay!

I love doing things that make our pooches happy and joyful. I don't know if I could ever give them as much joy as they give me but I am sure going to try. :-)

Today is my baby Patti Marie's 11th birthday! Wow, time flies when you're having fun. :-)

Patti Marie (4 months old)

I remember when I first got her. She was 8 weeks old and weighed 1/2 pound. She was (and still is) the cutest thing I had ever seen in my life. I am not one to purchase animals when there are so many in shelters that need loving homes. In fact, Patti is the first and only puppy dog that I ever purchased. It was love at first sight and she has been my sweet and loyal baby ever since.

We had the best day ever! First thing this morning, we all went to the Falls Park (downtown Greenville, SC). The pups had a blast. In fact, they had so much fun that they were literally smiling the whole time we were there. It was adorable!

After the park, the pups came home and crashed all day. They were so tired! I made the pups a special dinner to celebrate Patti's b-day. Mommy boiled some chicken, cut it up and molded it into their bowls (was supposed to be like a b-day cake). Patti has severe allergies so I couldn't make her a puppy dog birthday cake like I have done in the past.

After dinner it was time for presents. Our pups absolutely LOVE presents. It's like they know that the gifts are special - just for them. They will even take the gift bags, pull out the tissue paper and then pull out the toy. They look up at me as if to say "Thank you so much mommy. I love it and you sooooo very much!" As you can tell, my puppy dogs light up my life. They are my sunshine. They complete me.

Here are a few pics of puppy presents and them enjoying them. Now if you are like me then you know that you can't just buy one-(1) toy. You have to buy everyone a toy so they don't get their feelings hurt 'cause they don't understand why they didn't get one. So bonus for everyone! :-)
